Traditions are hard to break. They are born of culture, entertainment, community, geography and generational habit. In Western countries, when it comes to health, the tradition is to wait until there are some signs, and then go to the doctor to get treatment. One buys the medicine from the pharmacy and follow the instructions on the way to recovery.
Perhaps this tradition goes back to the way some students discuss results in high school or college. For some, the school was a time of fellowship and fun, and not too much to worry about books, until the week before the final. Then it was … push, push, push … to try to cram enough to overcome semester of bad study habits. It would have been easier to learn daily. Then, be prepared for the test would be a natural outgrowth of the daily routine.
Likewise, good health habits are better done every day, while waiting for a crisis that drives someone to the doctor or emergency department. People tend to know when they need to change their lifestyle. £ begin to pile up. Weight is not as easy to lose. Headaches can be a little more frequent. Constipation can become a serious issue. Sleep routine is interrupted. The stomach and digestive system is uncomfortable after eating. The energy can be lower, with sugar highs and lows. Rarely is the illness without some sort of warning symptoms first.
For that reason, when one begins to notice that health is slipping, it is a good time to start being proactive about health. It’s time to start learning what constitutes good health and a good diet. It is time to implement good practice health.
While some may feel that there is too much bother, the fact is that health is one of the most important assets anyone can have. Some would say money is important, it is true. However, without treatment, a person can not hold a job to earn money. Or, you’re limited in what type of work he or she can keep. Furthermore, in the case of an ongoing illness, even if he still has some kind of earning capacity, or someone in the house has some revenue, illness will eat up money in the way of medical expenses and the need to hire extra help one kind or another during illness. To be proactive about your health is very important to one’s life, and the lives of the next house. The best time to think about being proactive about health now.
